According to relevant statistics, in the first five months of this year, the import and export of goods trade in 12 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in western my country showed booming development.
Specific data shows that in the first five months, the import and export of goods trade in the 12 western provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities reached 2.06 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.5%, and achieved double-digit growth for six consecutive months. This scale set a new high for the same period in history, and contributed 11.7% to the national foreign trade growth during the same period.
Looking at the specific situation of import and export, in terms of exports, the export volume in the first five months was 1.3 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.6%; in terms of imports, the import volume reached 759.67 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22%.

It is worth mentioning that the number of companies participating in import and export trade in the western region has also increased significantly.
There were 39,000 companies with import and export performance, a year-on-year increase of 18.5%, of which 36,000 were private enterprises.
This reflects the important role that private enterprises play in the development of foreign trade in the western region. They actively explore international markets and inject new vitality into the economic growth of the western region.
In terms of regional cooperation in foreign trade, in the first five months, the western region’s imports and exports to countries co-building the “Belt and Road” were 1.3 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.2%, accounting for more than 60% of the total foreign trade import and export value of the western region.
This data highlights the huge role that the “Belt and Road” initiative has played in promoting the development of foreign trade in the western region. Trade between the western region and the “Belt and Road” countries has become increasingly close, and the areas of cooperation have continued to expand.
The record high import and export scale in the western region is inseparable from many factors.
