As the core cornerstone of high-end manufacturing, the strength of five-axis machine tools directly determines the upper limit of a country’s precision industry.
Nowadays, domestically produced five-axis machine tools have been implemented in batches and gradually replaced imports, supporting half of the aviation, new energy, and high-end equipment manufacturing industries.

However, the aura of breakthrough has faded, and we must face the reality: domestic machine tools have achieved “usability and sufficient use”, but have not yet reached the top level of “stable and extreme”.
Three industrial constraints are still stuck in the throat of high-end manufacturing.
The first shackle is the “brain shortcoming” of the CNC system.
Siemens and Fanuc monopolize more than 70% of the global CNC system market, and domestic market share is less than 10%.
What seems like a small technical gap turns out to be a hardcore gap.
There is a dynamic error of 0.005mm in the five-axis linkage core compensation calculation. High-end control chips rely on imports. There have been companies that have directly shut down their production lines due to supply cuts for a single chip.
Coupled with insufficient industrial software adaptation, after replacing domestic systems in some aerospace scenarios, processing efficiency dropped by 30%, highlighting ecological shortcomings.
The second constraint is the industry-recognized “durability gap.”
The data is the most straightforward: the average trouble-free operation time of domestic machine tools is only 800 hours, while the international top level exceeds 1,500 hours.
Although the equipment acceptance accuracy can be compared with imported equipment, after 2,000 hours of continuous operation, the accuracy of domestic machine tools decays at a rate 2 to 3 times that of imported equipment.
Lagging thermal deformation compensation technology, insufficient lifespan of core components, and lack of precision assembly processes make domestic machine tools more “dull” with use, making it difficult to adapt to long-term extreme precision working conditions.

The third shackle is the false prosperity of intelligent transformation.
At present, most of the intelligent upgrades of domestic machine tools are just superficial gimmicks: pseudo-intelligent systems with fixed rules are prone to scrapping when dealing with new materials; there is a lack of systematic cutting process database in China, and high-end processing still relies on the experience of workers; equipment interfaces are limited, and more than 60% of the data in a large number of smart workshops cannot be collected and utilized.
Intelligent transformation has fallen into the dilemma of “empty framework and no core”.
The shortcomings are clear, but the breakthrough never stops.
From the national 04 special project to deeply cultivate underlying technologies, to the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University to tackle material genes and quantum precision measurement, to industry alliances to open up the data ecology, domestic machine tools are filling the gaps of a century of industrial accumulation.
The breakthrough of domestic five-axis machine tools is no longer to break the ice from scratch, but to advance from qualification to perfection, from catching up to leading.
There is an enterprise deeply involved in the Tengzhou machine tool industry belt. It is a professional domestic five-axis machine tool precision sheet metal supporting source manufacturer and a sheet metal supporting and machine tool accessory manufacturing base. It has long been providing original equipment for five-axis machine tools, turning and milling composites, and precision CNC complete machines. It is deeply involved in the field of high-end machine tool sheet metal and accurately matches the production standards of high-end equipment.
