Ant International launches cross-border payment services in Latin America to facilitate new development of global payments

Alipay+, the cross-border payment network under Ant International, has announced the launch of cross-border payment services for overseas e-wallets in Latin America, initially covering Argentina and Chile. This move is set to transform the region's payment landscape and foster economic and cultural exchange between China and Latin America.

On May 27, 2026, Alipay+, a cross-border payment network owned by Ant International, announced the opening of overseas e-wallet cross-border payment services in Latin America. The first phase will cover Argentina and Chile, and will gradually expand to other countries and regions.

Currently, Alipay+ is connected to 50 mainstream e-wallets, super apps, mobile banks, and QR code systems in more than ten countries and regions around the world; the ecosystem covers 150 million merchants and 2 billion consumer accounts around the world.
Such a huge payment network provides a strong guarantee for the convenience and efficiency of global payments.

International tourism revenue accounts for 10% of Latin America’s GDP, supporting 27 million jobs and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.
As the economic and cultural ties between China and Latin America become increasingly close, digital payment has become an important link for multi-level business and travel cooperation in e-commerce, B2B trade and other markets in China and Latin America.
Ant International’s launch of cross-border payment services in Latin America will undoubtedly further strengthen this connection.

Through the cooperation between Ant International and local payment institution PVS, Latin American merchants will be able to access the global digital payment ecosystem of Alipay+ through one integration.
This means that not only Chinese tourists who use Alipay, but also Asian and European tourists who use Alipay+ partner applications such as South Korea’s Kakao Pay, Malaysia’s TNG eWallet, and Italy’s Tinaba will soon open their familiar payment software and scan the QR code to pay locally.
The system automatically converts the exchange rate, so tourists do not need to worry about cumbersome issues such as cash withdrawals and currency exchanges, and enjoy a transparent, safe and convenient payment experience.

PVS CEO Kelun Jia said: “We are very pleased to cooperate with Alipay+ to allow Asian and European tourists to Latin America to use their trusted wallets to pay. This not only improves the tourist experience, but also helps local merchants connect to international consumers and capture new growth opportunities.”

Jiang Weixiao, general manager of Ant International Alipay+ North Asia and Americas, said
This is a deep integration of global technology and local experience: “Ant International’s technical capabilities, risk control solutions and marketing tools will be combined with PVS’s local market insights, rapidly growing merchant network and compliance experience. We will continue to expand public-private partnerships in Latin America and do our part to promote the development of digitalization and artificial intelligence in Latin America.”

In recent years, Ant International has accelerated its deployment in markets such as Latin America and the Middle East.
Ant International mainly serves global financial institutions and merchants, covering payment and account services, scenario finance, treasury management and cutting-edge AI financial innovation. Its business covers Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas, with an average daily transaction volume of more than 20 million.
In Latin America, Ant International’s cooperation network covers many major financial and payment companies, as well as major e-commerce platforms such as Meikeduo and AliExpress. Its services have expanded from cross-border payments and digital growth to small and micro green credit.
In 2025, Ant reached a cooperation with R2, a Mexican small and micro credit platform.

The launch of Ant International’s cross-border payment services in Latin America is an important step in its globalization strategy and will also have a positive impact on the economic development and payment market changes in Latin America.
With the gradual expansion of services, it is believed that more countries and regions will benefit from this convenient cross-border payment method, further promoting global economic exchanges and cooperation.
