The largest green mining machinery export order signed by China so far has been born.
On September 26, during the United Nations General Assembly, Australia’s Fortescue Group officially announced in New York, the United States, that it had signed a contract with XCMG Group for the supply of new energy mining equipment.

It is understood that Xugong Group and Ford River Group recently held a signing ceremony for a strategic cooperation agreement on green mining equipment solutions in Beijing.
Yang Dongsheng, chairman of XCMG Group and XCMG Machinery, and Dr. Andrew Forrest, executive chairman of Ford River Group, jointly signed a new energy mining equipment supply contract.
According to the agreement, XCMG will provide 150 to 200 240-ton pure electric mining trucks to Ford River Group from 2028 to 2030.
The scale of this order also set a record for China’s largest export of green mining equipment.
The relevant person in charge of XCMG Group said that this batch of equipment will meet nearly half of the equipment needs of Ford River Group’s future 240-ton pure electric mining truck fleet, serve iron ore mining operations, and help it achieve its 2030 zero-carbon emission target for land operations.

In fact, this is not the first time the two parties have cooperated.
At the bauma CHINA (Shanghai International Construction Machinery, Building Materials Machinery, Mining Machinery, Engineering Vehicles and Equipment Expo) held in November 2024, XCMG Group signed an order with Ford River Group, setting a record for China’s largest export of electric mining machinery at that time.
Relevant information shows that Ford River Group is one of the world’s largest iron ore producers, headquartered in Western Australia.
Currently, the global mining industry is undergoing a green revolution, and zero-carbon transformation has become an industry consensus.
As a global mining giant, Ford River Group is the first in the industry to propose a complete decarbonization target by 2030, and plans to completely eliminate the use of fossil fuels in iron ore operations. Its green transformation “blueprint” is deeply consistent with XCMG’s zero-carbon smart mine development concept.
XCMG stated that the conclusion of this strategic cooperation agreement is not only an “upgrade” in the scale of cooperation, but also represents the global mining giant’s high recognition and affirmation of the innovative advantages of Chinese companies in the entire value chain in the field of green mining.
XCMG will use its world-leading mining equipment and technology to provide solid support for Ford River Group in accelerating the commercialization process of industrial decarbonization. The two parties will also work together to promote high-quality and sustainable development of the global mining industry.
Against the background of global advocacy of green development, the cooperation between XCMG and Ford River Group has important demonstration significance, opening a wider door for China’s green mining equipment to go global, and also injecting new impetus into the green transformation of the global mining industry.
