Why is it difficult for intelligent robots to enter the front line of coal mines?

现代智能科技发展迅速,各行各业开启机器换人模式,但煤矿井下人工开采模式仍未被智能设备完全替代。本文深入分析了背后的原因,包括经济成本、环境适配及就业等因素。

Modern smart technology is blooming everywhere, and all walks of life have begun to use machine substitution mode.
However, in the deep and dangerous coal mines, the high-risk operation mode of manual mining has never been completely replaced by intelligent equipment.
This leaves many people filled with doubts.

Underground Coal Mine Scene

The technical level of my country’s intelligent manufacturing is no longer what it used to be. The R&D and manufacturing technology of various industrial robots on the market is very sophisticated, and the problem of R&D of special intelligent equipment for coal mining is not worth mentioning at all.
But what really hinders the pace of industry upgrading is the real economic cost.
The manufacturing value of a professional mining intelligent equipment is high, far exceeding the daily salary of ordinary miners.
Moreover, precision intelligent equipment has extremely high requirements on the working environment and maintenance conditions.
Year-round equipment maintenance, parts replacement, and fault repair are all expenses that should not be underestimated.
The long-term investment will put a heavy operational burden on major coal mining companies.

The interior of a mine dozens of meters underground is completely different from the regular operation scene on the ground.
The light underground is dim, the vision is blocked, the terrain is complicated, and various emergencies are difficult to guard against.
Coal mining work requires excellence, and every operation requires precise control of subtle changes on site.
It is difficult for cold intelligent machines to flexibly adapt to the ever-changing underground environment.
Artificial on-the-spot judgment and adaptability are advantages that smart devices cannot match at this stage.

Working scenes of coal miners

People’s livelihood and employment have always been the top priority that cannot be separated from the development of the industry.
The coal industry supports tens of millions of grassroots workers, and tens of thousands of ordinary families rely on this work to make a living and support their families.
Large-scale intelligent equipment is fully implemented to replace labor, and a large number of front-line miners will lose their jobs.
What should we rely on to ensure the livelihood of this group of migrant workers?

Everything has its pros and cons, and technological upgrading is never achieved overnight.
Under the constraints of many practical factors, intelligent robots are temporarily unable to take over all high-risk operations in coal mines.
We need to comprehensively consider various factors such as economy, environment, and employment. While promoting scientific and technological progress, we must also ensure social stability and people’s well-being.
Do you agree with this industry status quo?
