First, let’s look at the US market.
U.S. import and export prices rose sharply more than expected in April, and imported inflation pressure intensified.
In that month, import prices rose 1.9% month-on-month and 4.2% year-on-year, and fuel prices soared 16.3%; export prices soared 3.3% month-on-month and 8.8% year-on-year, both hitting multi-year highs.
Geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East pushed up crude oil and commodity prices. Excluding energy, core import prices still rose 0.7% month-on-month.
Combined with previous increases in CPI and PPI, energy-driven inflation is spreading to many areas of the U.S. economy.
This situation has undoubtedly increased costs and market uncertainty for cross-border e-commerce merchants engaged in trade with the United States.
Companies need to pay close attention to price fluctuations and adjust purchasing and sales strategies to cope with the challenges posed by inflation.

Now turn your attention to the Indian market.
ICICI Securities predicts that the Indian e-commerce market will increase from US$70 billion in fiscal year 2025 to US$174-214 billion in fiscal year 2030.
The e-commerce penetration rate will increase from 7% to 13%, and demand in non-metropolitan areas will account for more than 60% in 2026.
Flipkart, Amazon India, and Meesho have formed a differentiated competitive landscape. Mobile phones, home appliances, and fashion are the core categories. The low-penetration track of home appliances has broad room for growth.
This shows that the Indian e-commerce market has huge potential and is an emerging market worth exploring for Chinese cross-border e-commerce.
According to the preferences and needs of Indian consumers, products suitable for the local market can be launched.

Then there is the Philippine market.
The latest data from the Philippine Internal Revenue Service shows that total tax revenue in April reached 422.378 billion pesos, exceeding the monthly target by 3.12% and a slight increase of 0.13% year-on-year. The cumulative tax revenue in the first four months of this year has reached 1.55 trillion pesos, which also exceeded the task and achieved steady growth.
The tax director said that this outstanding performance was mainly due to the coordinated collection and management of multiple departments, the upgrade of digital services and the smooth implementation of various reform plans. Although the income tax declaration deadline has been postponed, the tax performance has remained stable.
This reflects the stable development of the Philippine economy and provides a good economic environment for the development of cross-border e-commerce in the Philippines.

Finally, we focus on the Southeast Asian market.
The latest data shows that the scale of e-commerce in Southeast Asia will increase from US$156.3 billion in 2024 to US$289.8 billion in 2029, a five-year increase of 85%, a compound annual growth rate of 13.2%, and the second fastest growth rate in the world.
During the same period, the size of mobile wallets will surge by 107%, and the buy now, pay later model will surge by 174%.
Since 56% of the local population still does not have bank cards, the popularity of digital payments will continue to help expand the e-commerce market.
The rapid development of the Southeast Asian market has provided China’s cross-border e-commerce with a broad market space. Enterprises can take advantage of the development trend of digital payments to better meet the needs of local consumers.

To sum up, the cross-border e-commerce industry shows different development trends in different markets around the world.
Chinese cross-border e-commerce companies should pay close attention to the dynamics of various markets, seize opportunities, respond to challenges, and achieve better development.
