Recently, the 2026 National Machinery Industry High-Quality Development Activity and the “Xidian Cup” 4th National Machinery Industry Product Quality Innovation Competition were launched in Beijing.
As a landmark event to improve the quality of the machinery industry in the first year of the “15th Five-Year Plan”, this event, with the theme of “Building Quality Foundation, Strengthening Brands”, has been included in the important national “Quality Month” activities and the key quality improvement tasks of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
“The machinery industry is the ballast stone and equipment cornerstone of the national economy, and quality reform is the key to cracking the industry’s “big but not strong, complete but not excellent”.” Luo Junjie, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the China Machinery Industry Federation, said that with the acceleration of the restructuring of the global industrial chain and the in-depth advancement of a new round of scientific and technological revolution, my country’s machinery industry is in a critical window period from scale expansion to value creation, and from product competition to quality brand competition.
Developing new quality productivity is not a simple technological iteration, but a development paradigm change centered on innovation and quality. Quality change must be regarded as a breakthrough to seize the commanding heights of the global industry, and reliability improvement as the core task of quality work.
For the machinery industry, quality is not only the lifeline of products, but also the concentrated expression of industrial competitiveness. It is the strategic support for seizing the commanding heights of the global industry and building a modern industrial system.
Since the “14th Five-Year Plan”, my country’s machinery industry has achieved leapfrog development while overcoming difficulties. Quality innovation and industrial upgrading have gone hand in hand. The industry’s quality supply level has been significantly improved, quality infrastructure has been continuously improved, and the reliability of a number of core basic components and key core products has reached the international advanced level.
In the past five years, the pass rate of national supervision and spot inspections of my country’s machinery products has increased from 87.5% to 92.1%.
Luo Junjie said that the fundamental reason for these achievements is to always adhere to quality first, efficiency first, and regard quality innovation as the lifeline of industry development.
At present, China National Machinery Industry Corporation has built a number of national innovation platforms including 6 national key laboratories, 2 national manufacturing innovation centers, 3 central enterprise original technology sources, as well as a number of high-energy quality infrastructure.
Chen Xuedong, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer of China National Machinery Industry Corporation, and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that these high-energy platforms are the core strength of SINOMACH to serve and support the improvement of the quality of scientific and technological innovation in the machinery industry.
Taking the China Mechanical Research Institute Group Co., Ltd. as an example, it currently has 11 national-level innovation platforms, 6 national-level quality inspection centers, and 66 international and national standard committees.
Jiang Chao, deputy general manager of the General Machinery Research Institute, said, “These platforms are not only valuable innovation resources, but also a source of motivation for improving product quality.”
Luo Junjie said that during the “15th Five-Year Plan” period, the machinery industry must promote quality reform with a higher position, a broader vision, and greater intensity.
Guided by improving reliability levels, we must build a solid foundation for quality, strictly implement corporate quality main responsibilities, promote advanced quality management methods and digital control tools; focus on value creation, build a quality ecology, strengthen the main position of corporate scientific and technological innovation, and accelerate the construction of a national manufacturing pilot service network; use brand building as a starting point to enhance quality status, guide companies to strengthen brand positioning and brand management, promote product quality grading evaluation, and actively lead or participate in the formulation of international standards.
Quality innovation ultimately falls on products, technology and management.
Li Yanxia, chief engineer of the China Machinery Industry Federation, said that an open platform should be used to gather industry forces, select and promote advanced quality solutions, and promote collaborative quality improvement across the entire industry chain.
Currently, the National Machinery Industry Product Quality Innovation Competition has become an important platform for the industry. A total of 591 outstanding results have been selected in the first three sessions, effectively creating an industry atmosphere that emphasizes quality, creates brands, and maintains integrity.
As an important carrier of quality innovation in the industry, the 4th National Machinery Industry Product Quality Innovation Competition focuses on the three major directions of product quality innovation, quality technology innovation, and quality management innovation, covering traditional machinery, new energy, low-altitude economy and other emerging fields. It is open to enterprises, scientific research institutes, and universities for application, and participation is free of charge.
Through benchmarking, demonstration and promotion, and collaborative improvement, the competition promotes the implementation of quality innovation results in key industries, key enterprises, and major projects, and helps the quality of the entire industry chain and supply chain to be upgraded.
Strong quality leads to strong industry, and the prosperity of quality leads to the prosperity of manufacturing.
Luo Junjie said that during the “15th Five-Year Plan” period, the machinery industry will use firm determination and pragmatic actions to transform quality advantages into competitive and development advantages, and make every effort to promote the historic leap from large to strong.
