Shangcheng Science and Technology Innovation Enterprise: Let smell become the new “entrance” to digital life

In the morning, what wakes you up in the morning is not the piercing alarm clock, but the aroma of freshly ground coffee. When you are tired while driving, the car will “considerately” release the cool mint fragrance to refresh you; when your child is stressed, a chair that “understands you” can emit the pleasant fragrance of banana or chocolate… These scenes that only existed in imagination in the past are now becoming reality step by step in Hangzhou’s Shangcheng District, a technology company established just over a year ago – Hangzhou Qianjing Qianwei Technology Co., Ltd.

While most companies are still competing fiercely in the red sea of visual and auditory intelligence, Qianjing Qianwei has chosen a “small but beautiful” and imaginative track: using an AI odor large model to fill in the long-neglected “olfactory puzzle”.

From “smelling” to “counting”: a digital revolution of the senses

Among the five human senses, vision occupies an absolutely dominant position in information acquisition.
Although the sense of smell is closely connected with emotions and memory, it has been forgotten by the wave of digitalization.
Shen Lifen, general manager of Qianjing Qianwei, saw this gap: “Smell is a natural ’emotional trigger’, but for a long time, this industry has lacked data precipitation and intelligent multi-scenario applications.”

Unlike traditional perfumers who “create” based on experience, and unlike ordinary hardware manufacturers who only make “distribution” equipment, the core of Qianjing Qianwei is a completely independently developed “AI scent smart cloud platform”.
The platform has built a three-layer architecture of perception layer, model layer and application layer.
The perception layer supports the collection of multi-modal data such as text, images, and audio; the model layer is based on the independently constructed Hanhai odor database (ScentBase) and integrates multi-modal large language model technology to create a large AI odor model “ScentGen” with millisecond response to achieve odor feature extraction and intelligent formula generation; the application layer quickly accesses various types of hardware through standardized APIs.

“The large model is like the brain, and the database is the memory bank.” Product Director Chen Fuhui explained.
The user inputs a piece of text, a picture, a sentence, or even a micro-expression, and the large model can analyze the emotions and scene tags, match, calculate, and combine them from a huge database, and finally generate a unique “smell recipe” and instruct the hardware to release it accurately.

The sophistication of this “recipe” is far beyond imagination.
For example, the scent formula of a sleep aid is not determined solely by the concentration of linalool, but by a variety of scent combinations, including different component concentrations and proportions, as well as matching scenes, music, pictures, videos and other factors, which together determine the final scent experience effect. Chen Fuhui said: “Our value lies in using algorithms and data
, ‘digital annotation’ of traditional recipes turns smell from ‘elusive’ to computable and programmable ‘science.’ ”

From cars to homes: focusing on the implementation of two major scenarios

No matter how cool the technology is, it will eventually be tested by the market.
Qianjing Qianwei has a clear business logic: “We don’t do everything we do, we only do what we are relatively good at – productizing technology and ecological empowerment, focusing on scenarios that have market applications and can be scaled up.”

Currently, Qianjing Qianwei has taken the lead in completing in-depth layout in the field of smart cockpits.
With its innovative technical capabilities and product positioning, the company has successfully entered the supply chain of leading car companies.
For example, Qianjing Qianwei and the listed company Danghong Technology have jointly created an immersive 5D cockpit to upgrade exciting content such as movies, games, and performances across dimensions. Through the 5D reconstruction platform and real vehicle debugging, the entertainment content has been expanded from the traditional audio-visual experience to a five-dimensional immersive experience of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and movement.

In the field of smart home, Qianjing Qianwei closely follows the new growth points of emotional/experiential services, focusing on “emotional healing” and “smart sleep assistance”. It has already cooperated in depth with a number of industry partners to explore the seamless integration of AI smell capabilities in the form of plug-ins in smart bodies such as OpenClaw to create an industry-unique “olfactory healing smart body”.
From emotion recognition to smell intervention, Qianjing Qianwei has formed a complete closed-loop service, making functional smell a sensory dimension that can be actively linked in the smart home ecosystem.
“We do not make ‘isolated’ hardware, but hope to make smell a linkable sensory dimension in the smart home ecosystem, and use AI smell technology to put healing services into every home,” said Shen Lifen.

Open Ecology: Don’t be a “lonely warrior”, be an “empowerer”

Facing equally imaginative scenarios such as cultural tourism, education, and medical care, Qianjing Qianwei is not eager to “take over the world” by itself.
“We do a good job in enabling ecological technology for these scenarios and do not operate the scenarios.” Shen Lifen emphasized.

Qianjing Qianwei has chosen a more open route: providing SDK (software development kit) and open API interface (application programming interface) to empower ecological partners with large AI model capabilities.
For example, the “Soul Station” relaxation chair being developed by an education company is equipped with Qianjingqianwei’s AI scent large model and scent module components.
During breaks, students can smell pleasant smells such as bananas and apples along with the video content, thus achieving a soothing effect.
In the future, audio picture books, VR large spaces, and even olfactory rehabilitation training for olfactory degenerative diseases may all be redefined because of Qianjingqianwei’s technology.

“For one device, we may only charge token fees every month, but what about ten thousand or one million devices? Once the ecosystem is formed, the value is huge.” Shen Lifen described the blueprint for the application of ecological scenarios after technological evolution.

Resonating with the “Smart City”, letting the world “hear” and see Shangcheng

The rapid growth of Qianjingqianwei is inseparable from the soil where it takes root – Qiantang Smart City in Shangcheng District.
At the beginning of 2025, the company stood out in the third “Golden Boot Run” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in Shangcheng District with its “Generative Smell Large Model” project and was awarded the Class C project.
“R&D funding, rent subsidies, policy declarations, resource docking… the park’s full ‘point-to-point’ service allows us to focus on R&D and market implementation.” Shen Lifen was full of praise for this.

Today, Qianjing Qianwei is highly coordinated with the “intelligent Internet of Things” industry that is the focus of smart city development.
From “digital fashion” to “digital energy” to “smart Internet of Things”, Smart City is becoming the best “innovation partner” for “hard-core” scientific and technological innovation companies like Qianjing Qianwei with its full-chain cultivation system of “incubation-acceleration-industrialization”.
