Dalian Customs announced that according to customs statistics, in the first five months of this year, Dalian’s import and export volume was 204.28 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%, and its foreign trade scale accounted for 63% of Liaoning Province.
Among them, the export trend is particularly eye-catching. Exports were 112.6 billion yuan, an increase of 15.5%, and the growth rate outperformed the country; imports were 91.68 billion yuan, a decrease of 3.3%.

Dalian’s foreign trade in the first five months of this year has many distinctive features.
First, processing trade has grown significantly, which has helped the steady development of foreign trade.
In the first five months, the import and export of processing trade was 60.61 billion yuan, an increase of 39%, accounting for 29.7% of the city’s total import and export value in the same period; bonded logistics was 44.93 billion yuan, an increase of 0.5%, accounting for 22%.
This shows that processing trade occupies an important position in Dalian’s foreign trade and maintains a good growth trend.
The continued expansion of emerging markets is also a highlight.
In the first five months, Dalian’s import and export to ASEAN was 52.53 billion yuan, an increase of 66.8%, accounting for 25.7%, driving the foreign trade growth rate by 10.9 percentage points.
Imports and exports to countries jointly building the “Belt and Road” totaled 124.56 billion yuan, an increase of 15.5%, accounting for 61%, driving 8.7 percentage points of foreign trade growth.
Imports and exports to Africa reached 13 billion yuan, an increase of 190.9%.
These data fully demonstrate that Dalian has achieved remarkable results in expanding emerging markets, laying a solid foundation for the diversified development of foreign trade.

From the perspective of export products, mechanical and electrical products accounted for more than 60% of exports, and ship exports doubled.
Dalian exported 70.06 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 23.5%, driving the city’s export growth rate by 13.7 percentage points, accounting for 62.2% of the city’s total export value.
Among them, exports of ships, integrated circuits, and electrical equipment increased by 120.1%, 18.5%, and 11.1% respectively.
This reflects Dalian’s strong strength in the field of high-end manufacturing, especially the substantial growth in ship exports, reflecting the continuous improvement of the competitiveness of Dalian’s shipbuilding industry in the international market.
Generally speaking, the substantial growth of Dalian’s foreign trade exports in the first five months of this year was due to the promotion of processing trade, the expansion of emerging markets and the good development of advantageous industries.
In the future, Dalian is expected to continue to maintain this good development trend, further improve the level of foreign trade, and promote more Chinese products to the world.
