JD AI helps Chinese products go global and opens a new era of home intelligence

In 2026, AI technology is being integrated into people’s daily lives at an unprecedented speed, and JD.com plays an important role in this change.
A child’s desk may be one of the most natural entrances for AI to enter the home.
In the lighting industry, there have long been some unresolved problems, such as the lack of AI learning partners who can communicate and answer questions at any time, light source technology stuck in the hazard prevention stage, and users’ lack of intuitive perception of light quality.

Child Vision has been deeply involved in the fields of optical technology and healthy lighting for many years, but there is still a lot of room for improvement in AI interaction.
In 2025, Children’s Vision and JD.com joined forces, with JD.com providing AI technology capabilities and Children’s Vision being responsible for optics and hardware. They jointly launched a customized eye-protection street lamp D6.
This lamp was first launched with a very high quality-price ratio of 2,694 yuan. Sales exceeded 100 units in 10 minutes and 400 units in 28 hours. It ranked first in sales, traffic and sales of related categories on JD.com when it was first launched.

Eye Protection Street Lamp D6

The AI capabilities behind D6 come from JD.com’s intelligent JoyInside. Relying on the self-developed JoyAI large model, JoyInside can embed understanding and interaction capabilities into various hardware terminals.
Up to now, JoyInside has in-depth cooperation with nearly 200 brands, spanning home appliances, home furnishings, health equipment, toys, robots, etc.
JD.com stated at the 618 launch conference that JoyInside will be implanted in more than 10 million smart hardware devices this year.

Since the development of the AI industry, there are roughly two ways to enter daily life: one is to make apps, and the other is to disassemble AI into terminal devices.
JD.com chose the latter because from the perspective of the depth of integration of AI and daily life, terminal equipment is closer to the final form of the industry.

In the past two years, the public’s awareness of AI has mainly remained in chat tools.
But for AI to enter daily life, it needs to change from being able to answer questions to being able to do work.
For example, an air conditioner can sense when a user falls asleep and automatically adjust the temperature, and a desk lamp can detect when a child is sitting in a wrong posture and proactively remind them.
JD.com found in user surveys that the reservation function of rice cookers has a low usage rate. After connecting to JoyInside, users only need to say “I want to drink porridge at seven o’clock tomorrow morning” to complete the reservation.

AI home appliances and home products

On the eve of World Sleep Day in March this year, JD.com expanded this set of capabilities from single products to the entire sleep scene.
When the user lies in bed and says “I can’t sleep today”, the mattress equipped with JoyInside will recognize the need to relax, activate the air bag massage, adjust to a zero-gravity angle suitable for falling asleep, and the bedside speakers will simultaneously play white noise and slowly dim the lights.

JoyInside originated from a project codenamed “Chameleon” within the JD Discovery Research Institute. Driven by the group’s strategy at the end of last year, the cooperation expanded to all categories.
In January 2026, JD.com officially established the Chameleon Business Department to fully undertake the commercialization of core AI products.

When brands lack confidence in AI products, Jingdong Manufacturing will often make prototypes first.
On 618 this year, the AI home scene product group equipped with JoyInside made its debut for the first time, including AI cooking robots, AI smart mattresses, AI magic printers and other categories.
In the direction of catering for the elderly, the “Guardian Star” C30 Ultra AI wheelchair jointly created by Bangbang Che and JD Health can have multiple conversations with the elderly, play audio books and operas, and children can also check the wheelchair’s location and customize safety fences in real time in the JD Health App.

There is no shortage of large models on the market, but brands still need JoyInside.
It has high emotional intelligence dialogue capabilities, anthropomorphic human-computer interaction, highly consistent words and deeds, and a gamified development system, allowing the device to move from just connection to understanding, response, and companionship.
Connected to JoyInside’s smart hardware, the average conversation rounds increase by more than 120%.

For a large number of traditional brands, the biggest obstacle to AI transformation is the uncertainty of trial and error costs.
JD.com reduces the decision-making risks of brands through underwriting, turning the introduction of AI capabilities into a “guaranteed profit without loss” business.
In terms of the industrial chain, JD.com’s toy category procurement and sales team conducted in-depth research to promote the development of core brands in the direction of AI.
In the cooperation with Xinfei AI voice air conditioner, JD.com provides a technical solution that integrates software and hardware. The brand only needs to add a small amount of hardware cost. The product is based on the cloud and can be updated and upgraded in real time.

JoyInside has cooperated with nearly 200 brands, and more than 10 million devices will be online within the year.
But for AI to do its job well in home scenarios, the entire industry still lacks high-quality training data.
In April this year, JD.com released its embodied intelligent data infrastructure, planning to mobilize up to 600,000 people to collect 10 million hours of human first-person video data within two years.
JD.com has built the country’s first embodied intelligent data collection community in Suqian, Jiangsu.

From a global perspective, it is a definite trend for AI to enter the physical world.
Amazon, Google, Xiaomi and Huawei are all promoting related plans, but most of them require brands to integrate into a specific ecosystem.
JoyInside will flexibly adapt according to the brand’s own technical capabilities.
When AI becomes the “standard feature” in all categories such as home appliances, home furnishings, and toys, the brand’s differentiated competitiveness will shift to the depth of understanding of user needs, supply chain response speed, and channel reach capabilities.
JD.com provides brands with not only AI technology, but also a complete closed loop.

As Xu Ran, CEO of JD Group, said: “We are not pursuing sports-style AI one-sidedly. We are pursuing AI that is sustainable and truly creates value for the industry.” When more and more devices in the home begin to understand people’s speech, remember people’s preferences, and can proactively provide services, the relationship between AI and people is shifting from “tool and user” to “accompany and being accompanied.”
JD.com is laying the infrastructure for this transformation in its own way.
