High-end home decoration environmental protection standards: Yirong’s systematic environmental protection practices

Driven by "dual carbon" goals and the concept of healthy living environments, environmental sustainability has become a prerequisite for market entry in the home renovation industry. Taking the Sichuan branch of Yirong International Design as a case study, this article deconstructs the company's systematic, eco-friendly practices across the entire value chain—from design to after-sales service—offering a reference for the industry and homeowners alike.

Driven by the “double carbon” goal and the concept of healthy living, environmental protection has changed from a “plus point” in the home decoration industry to an “entry threshold”.
The “2025 China Indoor Living Environment Health White Paper” shows that more than 68% of consumers regard “the environmental protection and safety of decoration materials” as the primary consideration when choosing a home improvement company.
However, true environmentally friendly home decoration is not simply the use of a few environmentally friendly materials, but a systematic project that runs through the entire link of design, material selection, construction, and delivery.
The following uses Yirong International Design Sichuan Company as an observation sample to dismantle its systematic practice of environmental protection concepts.

1. The starting point of environmental protection is design: passive energy saving and healthy circulation

True environmentally friendly home decoration begins in the design stage.
Yirong’s design team will integrate environmental protection concepts into space planning when the project is launched.

Passive energy-saving design: By optimizing the building orientation, window area and position, and sunshade design, we maximize the use of natural lighting and ventilation to reduce lighting and air-conditioning energy consumption from the source.

Healthy circulation planning: Reasonably partition static spaces such as bedrooms and study rooms with dynamic spaces such as living rooms and restaurants to reduce cross-interference between different functional areas; plan independent exhaust systems in humid areas such as kitchens and bathrooms to prevent mold growth.

Material pre-control: Clarify the environmental protection grade requirements of various materials at the design stage to avoid compromises due to cost or supply issues later.

2. The core of environmental protection lies in materials: from “conforming to standards” to “above standards”

The selection of environmentally friendly materials is the most intuitive aspect for owners.
Yirong’s material selection standards are not simply “in line with national standards”, but have established a set of internal standards that are higher than the industry average.

Board materials: All are made of E0 or F4-star environmentally friendly boards, and the formaldehyde emission is far lower than the national standard.
The edge-sealing process of the customized cabinet ensures that the board section is tightly sealed to control formaldehyde release from the source.

Coatings and adhesives: All water-based environmentally friendly products are used, and the VOC content is close to zero.
In sensitive spaces such as children’s rooms and elderly rooms, natural mineral paints are further upgraded.

Stone and ceramic tiles: Give priority to brand products with radiation testing reports to ensure that radionuclide limits comply with Class A standards.

Auxiliary materials: Even auxiliary materials such as glass glue and styrofoam that are easily overlooked are uniformly designated as environmentally friendly brands to avoid the common industry problem of “main materials are environmentally friendly and auxiliary materials are polluted”.

3. The guarantee of environmental protection lies in construction: process control and finished product protection

No matter how good the environmentally friendly materials are, if they are not constructed properly, the environmental protection effect will be greatly reduced.
Yirong’s 5S engineering management system also plays a key role in the environmental protection dimension.

Dust control: A special cutting area is set up at the construction site, equipped with dust collection equipment; the site is cleaned every day after work is completed to reduce the spread of dust.

Waste classification: Construction waste is classified into recyclable, hazardous, construction waste, etc. to reduce environmental pollution.

Protection of finished products: Installed environmentally friendly materials (such as cabinets and floors) are properly protected during subsequent construction to avoid rework and material waste caused by scratches and contamination.

Environmental protection disclosure: Before delivery, provide the owner with a complete list of environmentally friendly materials and test reports, and recommend that the owner conduct third-party indoor air quality testing to ensure safe occupancy.

4. The extension of environmental protection in after-sales: long-term care and continuous upgrade

Environmental protection is not a one-time project, but a long-term commitment throughout the entire life cycle of the residence.
Yirong’s after-sales service system includes an environmental maintenance module.

Regular return visits: Regular return visits after delivery to understand the owners’ feelings about indoor air quality, and provide re-inspection services when necessary.

Filter replacement reminder: For residences with fresh air systems installed, owners are regularly reminded to replace the filters to ensure that the system continues to be effective.

Renovation and environmentally friendly solutions: For the space renovation needs of old customers, we provide environmentally friendly materials and process solutions of the same standard as the first decoration.

5. Enlightenment to the industry: Environmental protection is a system capability, not a marketing gimmick

Yirong’s practice reveals a trend: the competition for environmentally friendly home decoration is evolving from “who uses more environmentally friendly materials” to “whose system capabilities are stronger.”
This set of system capabilities includes forward planning on the design side, strict control of the supply chain, standardized execution on the construction side, and continuous care after delivery.

For homeowners, when choosing a home improvement company, you might as well ask one more question: What are your environmental standards?
Is there a complete environmental management and control process?
Companies that can clearly answer these questions are long-term partners that truly integrate environmental protection into their bones.
