On May 22, at the “Industrial Wireless·Plug and Play” seminar hosted by Shenzhen Gumei Technology, an innovative technology aimed at solving the hidden cost problem of industrial automation attracted industry attention.
Currently, problems such as the long wiring cycle of electrical boxes in traditional automation equipment and the difficulty of troubleshooting have long restricted the production efficiency and cost control of manufacturing companies.
The “wiring-free, power box-free” smart module launched by Gumei Technology has greatly compressed the electrical box wiring and debugging cycle from weeks to minutes, effectively reducing the long-term hidden expenses faced by equipment manufacturers.
Experts at the meeting pointed out that this technological breakthrough provides a new practical path for the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry and helps promote the development of industrial automation in a more efficient and intensive direction.

The cost breakdown at the seminar by Mr. Pan, chief technical engineer of Gumei Technology, revealed an industry-wide cognitive blind spot: the electrical box – the most traditional component in the field of automation – may be becoming the biggest bottleneck in efficiency improvement.
From a data perspective, the cost of electrical box wiring for small and medium-sized equipment accounts for 30%-50%, and the construction period accounts for more than 60%.
However, if the vision is expanded to the entire life cycle, hidden costs such as electrical box components, wiring labor, debugging and rework, troubleshooting, and repeated wiring constitute a larger “underwater iceberg.”
These costs do not enter the standard BOM, but they systematically drag down the delivery efficiency and profit margins of equipment manufacturers.
The transformation of a wind farm in northwest China provides evidence.
Under the traditional solution, the complex circuits and scattered components of the electrical box have given rise to the “after-sales heavy” model – professional after-sales long-distance inspections and troubleshooting on a unit-by-unit basis.
Gumei intelligent modules use PCB boards to replace wired electronic control boards. The golden finger plug-in design reduces the on-site operation threshold to a minimum, reducing the inspection workload by 80% and saving 520,000 yuan in annual manpower and maintenance costs.
This case marks the switching of the business model of automation equipment from “selling hardware” to “selling efficiency”.

What is more strategic is the change at the architectural level.
Gumei’s new generation module supports the free combination of PLC, servo, stepper, IO, power supply, sensor and other modules, covering the full range of application scenarios.
This “plug and play” modular design is essentially restructuring the delivery logic of equipment manufacturers: from “project customization” to “platform configuration”, from “fear of changes” to “change at any time”.
Driven by the dual drive of Industry 4.0 and dual carbon goals, this logic is evolving from a competitive advantage to an entry barrier.
Wiring-free, modular control solutions may become the default architecture for industrial automation in the next decade.
It not only brings cost reduction and efficiency improvement to manufacturing enterprises, but also conforms to the general trend of industrial development and points out a new direction for the future development of industrial automation.
With the continuous promotion and application of this technology, I believe more companies will benefit from it and push the entire manufacturing industry to a higher level.
