Global second-hand luxury consumption continues to heat up, and Chengdu takes advantage of cross-border e-commerce to seize new overseas markets

On June 23, against the background of the accelerated development of the global circular economy and the continued warming of second-hand consumption, the world’s leading cross-border e-commerce platform held the second-hand luxury goods cross-border development summit in Chengdu for the first time. Hundreds of high-quality second-hand luxury goods merchants, supply chain companies and cross-border ecological partners from the southwest region gathered at the scene to discuss new opportunities for the global development of China’s second-hand luxury goods industry.
The “2026 Spring and Summer Fashion Trend Report” was also released simultaneously at the event, which analyzes international consumption trends based on global real transaction data and provides forward-looking insights for Chinese sellers in overseas markets.

In recent years, recommerce (Recommerce) is becoming an important driving force for the growth of the global retail market.
Relevant industry reports show that 89% of global consumers plan to maintain or increase the purchase of second-hand goods. Generation Z and Millennials in the European and American markets have become the core force in second-hand consumption.
As the concept of sustainable consumption takes root in people’s hearts, the second-hand luxury goods market continues to expand, creating new growth space for global cross-border trade.
At the same time, after years of development, China has formed a mature industrial ecosystem covering supply circulation, appraisal and evaluation, repair and maintenance, warehousing and contract fulfillment, and has gradually grown into an important part of the global second-hand luxury goods supply chain.
As cross-border e-commerce infrastructure continues to improve, China’s second-hand luxury goods industry is ushering in an important window period to expand from domestic circulation to the global market.

As the world’s leading trading platform for second-hand luxury goods and collectibles, the relevant platform currently has 136 million active buyers, and its business covers more than 190 countries and regions.
Its authenticity guarantee project has covered multiple core second-hand luxury categories, improving cross-border transaction transparency and consumer trust through professional verification services. At the same time, the platform’s live e-commerce has been launched in seven core markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, France, Italy and Australia, helping sellers reach global consumers through innovative business models.
In addition, the platform continues to deepen its cooperation with internationally renowned fashion IPs, further strengthening the platform’s influence in the global high-end fashion consumption field and injecting more vitality into the second-hand luxury goods trading ecosystem.

This summit attracted many second-tier luxury merchants, supply chain companies and cross-border service organizations from the southwest region to participate. The exchanges were lively and many companies reached cooperation intentions on the spot.
As an important center for luxury goods consumption and fashion culture in China, Chengdu has long been ranked first in domestic luxury goods consumption and has a rich base of high-quality goods and mature industrial supporting resources.
In recent years, with the continuous improvement of service capabilities such as identification and maintenance, quality grading, live broadcast operations, and warehousing and logistics, Chengdu has gradually formed a second-hand luxury ecosystem covering the upstream and downstream of the industry, and accelerated its expansion into the global market. It is expected to become an important growth pole for China’s second-hand luxury products overseas.
The relevant person in charge of the platform said: “The circular economy is reshaping the global consumer market. Second-hand luxury goods have become an important industry with long-term growth potential. Chengdu has gathered the most dynamic second-hand luxury industry resources in Southwest China. We hope that through the global network, credit system and local team support, we can help more Chinese merchants grasp the overseas sustainable consumption trends and jointly open up new channels for second-hand luxury cross-border trade.”

2026 Spring and Summer Fashion Trend Report Release Site

The “2026 Spring and Summer Fashion Trend Report” released at the event, based on the platform’s massive transaction data, presents the latest changes in the overseas second-hand fashion market in terms of purchase, publication, search and resale price.
Among them, bags and watches continue to become high-profile categories. In the first quarter of 2026, the global publication volume of women’s bags and handbags categories, as well as the publication volume of jewelry and watches categories, increased by nearly 20%. The resale prices of many representative items continued to rise, indicating strong demand for high-value fashion items.
The value of classic luxury brands and niche brands has both increased. Internationally renowned first-tier brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Burberry continue to rank at the top of the global purchase rankings. At the same time, niche designer brands have achieved rapid growth with their distinctive styles and cultural values. The average sales price of some brands has increased by more than 700% year-on-year.
In addition, cultural hot spots are accelerating their influence on consumption decisions. In 2026, global cultural hot spots such as the Super Bowl have driven a significant increase in searches for related products. Celebrity effect and social communication are becoming important forces in promoting fashion consumption. Popular trends are also being converted into purchasing power more quickly. Spring and summer popular styles such as light romance, relaxed asymmetry, strong visual expression, retro color contrast, and low-key confidence are rapidly moving from fashion shows to the consumer market, driving a simultaneous increase in search, purchase, and resale demand for related products.

It is understood that in addition to providing global market channels, relevant platforms are continuing to strengthen localized empowerment of Chinese sellers.
For new sellers, a 12-month official growth escort plan has been launched to help companies quickly establish cross-border operating capabilities through operational guidance, growth coaching and exclusive support services.
In the future, we will continue to help more Chinese second-hand luxury companies improve their global operations through market insights, industry exchanges, ecological resource docking and talent training, promote the efficient connection between China’s supply chain advantages and global consumer demand, and help China’s second-hand luxury industry achieve higher-quality international development.
Many local merchants in Chengdu who have been deeply involved in the second-hand luxury industry for many years and have complete supply and live broadcasting systems have made clear their intention to enter relevant platforms to develop cross-border business. A business person in charge said: “We have already mastered the domestic second-hand luxury live broadcast model, but the competition in the local market is fierce and there are huge opportunities overseas. Relying on the platform
With the long-term global second-hand luxury ecology, a complete risk control system for authentic products, and the platform’s continued layout for cross-border live broadcasting, we are very optimistic about the prospects of cross-border second-hand luxury goods.
We plan to export our mature domestic live-streaming operation capabilities overseas and create an overseas growth map for Chinese second-hand luxury goods merchants.”
