On the afternoon of May 25, at the Platinum Hanjue Hotel in Nanjing, an interview focusing on the “new quality productivity” of the waterproof industry kicked off.
At this time, the Seventh National Waterproofing Conference was held. Hu Xibao, President of the China Building Waterproofing Association, Sun Bing, founder of the Gevoton brand, and Yuan Qing, a commentator and marketing expert from the central media, gathered to discuss the industry’s “pains” and the road to breakthrough with Nanjing Satellite TV host Yan Zijuan. Lu Jiangan, co-founder of the Gevoton brand, also participated in this event.

Hu Xibao, President of the China Building Waterproofing Association, pointed out in an interview that the waterproofing industry is currently in a “painful period” of deep adjustment. Real estate downturn, low-price involution, and dual-carbon transformation pressure are all difficulties that the industry must overcome.
The association proposes to “overcome current difficulties, shape new situations, and move toward the future.” The core is to promote the industry to shift from “selling materials” to “selling system services,” and from “solving leakage points” to “guaranteeing the safety of the entire life cycle of buildings.”
Sun Bing, the founder of Gevoton, who has 48 years of experience in the industry, is deeply touched by this.
He said that 48 years ago, he was a hero if he could block the water, but now he has to be the guardian of “good houses”.
The ‘Green Intelligent Resilience’ strategy proposed by Gwatong is exactly the enterprise response to the association’s call to ‘Shape a New Game’.
The so-called “green wisdom and toughness” were explained in detail by Sun Bing.
‘Green’ refers to responding to the national dual-carbon strategy and developing environmentally friendly technologies such as bio-based materials; ‘smart’ refers to embracing digitalization and replacing traditional manual inspections with smart monitoring systems; ‘tough’ focuses on industry pain points and is committed to improving the durability of materials so that they have the same lifespan as the building.
Central media commentator Yuan Qing commented that this was a “textbook-level collaboration between companies and enterprises.” Gwotong grasped the core of “new quality productivity” and reconstructed the business model.

In the process of ‘implementing the association’s ‘good house’ standards’, the association is formulating more stringent waterproof design working life standards, with the goal of ‘lasting as long as the building’.
The design life of traditional SBS coils is only about 15 years, which is no longer able to meet the needs of the new era.
Gevoton’s ‘Almighty Shield’ system came into being. Its bio-based modification technology has passed the association’s most stringent weather resistance test, and its VOC emissions are far lower than the national standard.
What is even more groundbreaking is its “intelligence”. The developed leakage warning system transforms passive maintenance into active prevention, redefining the boundaries of waterproofing services.
Sun Bing said that he is not afraid of strict standards. Raising the entry threshold can block the “bad money drives out good money” and allow companies that really do R&D to survive.
Facing the future, Gevoton proposes the ‘manufacturer ecological joint sales body’ model, changing the logic of traditional manufacturers selling goods to dealers, leading dealers to learn new standards together, serving end customers, and providing construction training and lifelong maintenance solutions based on association standards.
President Hu Xibao highly affirmed this and emphasized that the next step of the association is to cultivate “front-runner” companies and let the market realize that waterproofing is related to residential safety for decades.
Gwotong’s ‘Green Intelligent Resilience’ model provides a sample for the industry to move from ‘price competition’ to ‘value competition’.
At the end of the interview, Sun Bing summarized Gwotong’s original intention with “Guardianship has no boundaries, and quality can withstand time.” President Hu Xibao issued a call to join hands to “overcome difficulties and shape a new situation” to jointly embrace the future of high-quality development of China’s waterproofing industry.
This dialogue showed that with the top-level design of the association and the practice of leading companies, China’s waterproofing industry is undergoing changes. The implementation of new productive forces such as “green intelligence and toughness” will create a more solid “all-round shield” for every building.
