On May 27, 2026, according to relevant reports, the Erenhot Port has made a major breakthrough in the field of cross-border consumer payments.
Recently, the Mongolian SocialPay APP has successfully promoted the QR code payment service in China. This move has brought great convenience to the business exchanges and tourism consumption between China and Mongolia.
Erenhot, as an important land port for my country’s opening to the north, has extremely high frequency of personnel exchanges, business exchanges, and tourism consumption between China and Mongolia, and the demand for cross-border payments is very strong.
In recent years, the Xilingol League Branch of the People’s Bank of China has made full use of the location advantages and humanistic characteristics of the port area to promote a convenient payment pattern of “bundling external cards within” and “outsourcing internal use” for overseas personnel coming to China.

On this basis, after the Inner Mongolia Pilot Free Trade Zone was approved, the Erenhot area focused on the payment needs of Mongolian merchants and tourists in China and actively promoted the Mongolian SocialPay APP scan code payment business in China.
Through this business, Mongolian merchants do not need to exchange currency or bind new domestic accounts. They can rely on commonly used Mongolian APPs to complete QR code payment in all scenarios such as shopping, dining, and accommodation in China, truly realizing “local APP, cross-border scanning, and hassle-free payment”, and achieving a convenient payment model of “one mobile phone, common to both countries, local currency settlement, and scanning QR code”.
This payment model is accurately adapted to small-amount high-frequency consumption scenarios such as port shopping, catering, and accommodation, and has greatly improved the payment experience of Mongolian merchants.
In the past, when Mongolian merchants came to Erenhot to buy things, they had to queue up to exchange currency, which was a cumbersome procedure.
Nowadays, with the cross-border mobile payment interconnection between China and Mongolia, they can “scan the code with one hand and get the goods with the other hand” to easily complete consumption.
Mongolian businessman Aorigele said: “In the past, transactions were done with cash, but now we can rely on common APPs in the country to complete QR code payment for shopping, dining, accommodation and other scenarios, saving a lot of trouble.”

Currently, Mongolian SocialPay APP payment has been fully promoted in Erenhot’s large business districts, tourist attractions, hotels, public transportation, hospitals and other consumer areas.
In addition, Erenhot has also set up departure tax refund points at the airport and highway ports to provide tourists and merchants with one-stop full-process closed-loop payment services of “entry customs clearance-domestic consumption-convenient payment-departure tax refund”.
This series of measures not only facilitates Mongolian merchants’ consumption in China, but also further promotes the economic development of the Erenhot Port and the friendly exchanges between China and Mongolia.
With the continuous improvement and promotion of cross-border payment services, it is believed that Erenhot will play a more important role in the trade and tourism fields between China and Mongolia, building a more convenient bridge for economic cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
