Epiroc joins hands with YSUNG: Industrial RFID helps digitize the intelligent manufacturing of special vehicles

本文介绍了全球采矿与基础设施设备领军企业安百拓,在特种车人工装配线面临管理难题时,与YSUNG友上合作,利用工业RFID技术打造工序采集解决方案,实现特种车智造的数字化透明化。

Epiroc, a global technology leader in mining and infrastructure equipment, is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden.
Since becoming independent from Atlas Copco in 2018, it has always been driven by innovation and committed to promoting the transformation of the mining industry towards electrification, automation and sustainability.
Its core business covers electrified mining solutions and high-end drilling equipment (such as down-the-hole drilling rigs and rock drilling rigs). Its products are known for their excellent performance and reliability and are widely used in large-scale mines, tunnel projects and harsh operating scenarios.
Its global business covers more than 150 countries and regions, and it has deployed two major manufacturing bases in Nanjing (high-tech enterprise) and Zhangjiakou in China, achieving 100% renewable energy power supply and fulfilling its green manufacturing commitment.

From 2025 to 2026, Epiroc will accelerate the implementation of its electrification strategy. The all-electric equipment series covers all mining scenarios. Hydraulic breakers are firmly in the global high-end market and have been listed in the “Top Ten Brands of Down-the-Hole Drilling Rig in 2026” and “Top Ten Brands of CNPP Rock Drilling Rig in 2026”.
With SBTi Scientific Carbon Target Certification and EcoVadis Sustainable Development Gold Award, the company drives industry upgrading with two wheels of technological leadership and environmental responsibility, and continues to consolidate its leading position as a global benchmark in the field of high-end mining engineering.

However, on the Epiroc special vehicle manual assembly line, the backward reporting model has become a ‘stumbling block’ to management transformation.
The four stubborn problems of slow data updates, chaotic implementation of standards, underreporting of abnormal situations, and disconnected system connections not only create a production black box, but also make refined management and control and working-hour accounting become a ‘sake without rice’, unable to meet the management needs of modern intelligent manufacturing.

In order to solve the above core pain points, the solution has established four major implementation goals: [Efficiency Revolution] Replace manual records with automated collection to achieve “zero delay” acquisition of process data and “zero intervention” generation of work reporting processes; [Data Integration] Open up information islands through standardized interfaces to ensure that work reporting data is freely available in the company’s internal system
Flow and real-time sharing; [Management Standards] Build a unified reporting standard system to achieve refined management and control of personnel, working hours, and types, so that every minute of work can be traced and accounted for; [Exception Transparency] is embedded in the Andeng management module to transform production abnormalities from “post-event remediation” to “real-time response”, accurately quantify abnormal costs, and improve the data panorama.

Under the intelligent manufacturing architecture, the authenticity, real-time and traceability of data are the cornerstones of lean management.
At the bottom sensing layer, YSUNG relies on the high bandwidth and low latency characteristics of 5G private network to build a “device-edge-cloud” integrated data collection system.
By integrating RFID radio frequency identification, intelligent controllers and IoT sensors, equipment status, process flow and material information are automatically captured, eradicating manual entry errors from the physical source, and ensuring data is online in milliseconds and fully traceable.
The business application layer uses intelligent work reporting as the core engine, opening up the full-link interaction of Andon exception calls, LED signboard visualization and ink screen paperless display, simplifying output reporting, working hours accounting, and process traceability into standardized operations, and achieving transparent management of the production site.
The value closed loop starts from the automatic collection of underlying hardware to the intelligent analysis of upper-level reports, building a complete closed loop of production data, using digital means to drive cost reduction and efficiency improvement, and truly implement lean management.

In terms of hardware selection, the data collection layer hardware includes ultra-high frequency RFID reader YS – UR –
C200 is deployed at the entry and exit collection points of each process. It is used in conjunction with the sensor group and makes logical judgments to ensure the accuracy and uniqueness of RFID data collection and avoid misreading and missing readings; the anti-metal electronic tag YS-UT-289M is used as a vehicle information carrier and adopts magnetic installation. It is resistant to metal interference and is specially adapted to the metal surface environment of special vehicles; the ink screen YS-INS-
4.2 is YSUNG’s self-developed equipment, which plays a key role in the process of reporting work. It is bound to the label in advance, automatically updates the information through the electronic label, uses magnetic installation for easy replacement, and displays work orders and process status information in real time. Workers can directly check the current task status through the ink screen without the need for additional query systems. In Andon management, the ink screen cooperates with three-color lights to achieve dual status prompts.

The label activation process is for workers to place the label on the collector side and bind the task. After receiving the label, the worker collects the barcode information at the first station to activate the label, and affixes the label to the vehicle body. After the activation at the first station is completed, the YS-INS-4.2 information on the ink screen is automatically updated, and the vehicle is put into production.
During the inbound and outbound collection process, when materials enter the sensing area of the work station, the ultra-high frequency RFID reader YS-UR-C200 triggers automatic collection. The system has a built-in intelligent verification algorithm to determine the validity of the data in real time and decide whether to enter it. At the same time, the current status (green/red/yellow) is intuitively fed back through the three-color warning light. After the process assembly is completed, the system automatically triggers the reporting command to realize an unmanned closed loop of the entire process from ‘identity recognition’ to ‘completion reporting’.
The exception handling process generates abnormal collection events for equipment abnormal alarms. If the assembly process is abnormal, technical alarm interaction is performed on site. The cause of the abnormality is manually verified and subsequent processing is completed. The previous process is traced back to complete supplementary recording or exception reporting. If the on-site hardware fails, the number of exceptions is automatically recorded in the background. When the set threshold is reached, the system forcibly prohibits use.

This solution can be reused in multiple industry scenarios, such as process manufacturing and SMT production lines. The technical commonalities are multi-process tracking and metal environment adaptation; the technical commonalities of multi-process machining are process status monitoring and traceability management; the technical commonalities of large equipment assembly in equipment manufacturing are metal environment adaptation and multi-station collaboration.

YSUNG has created a complete process collection solution for Epiroc through core hardware products such as ultra-high frequency RFID reader YS-UR-C200, anti-metal electronic tag YS-UT-289M, ink screen YS-INS-4.2, and collection gateway.
The solution has formed a complete technical closed loop, from pain point analysis to goal definition, from architecture design to hardware selection, from process implementation to value verification. Each link has corresponding hardware support, achieving real-time visual display of status information and greatly improving on-site operation efficiency.
