Cross-border e-commerce: new growth highlights of China-Vietnam cooperation

Vietnam's e-commerce market holds immense potential, and trade between China and Vietnam has grown significantly in recent years, with cross-border e-commerce emerging as a new driver of bilateral economic and trade cooperation. As the Bank of China actively develops financial services for this sector, cross-border e-commerce between the two countries is poised for a qualitative leap forward.

Cross-border e-commerce may become a new growth point for China-Vietnam cooperation.
In 2025, Vietnam’s e-commerce GMV will reach US$32 billion, accounting for nearly 12% of the country’s total social commodity retail and consumer service revenue. The industry growth rate will exceed 20%, ranking second in Southeast Asia.
According to relevant reports, although Vietnam’s e-commerce market has ranked among the top ten in the world, its total e-commerce import and export volume is only US$4.45 billion, which shows its huge development potential.

In the future, China-Vietnam cross-border e-commerce will not only play an important role in promoting China-Vietnam trade, but will also continue to generate new demands for financial services and new models of business cooperation as the level of China-Vietnam trade improves.

Vietnam has been China’s largest trading partner in ASEAN for many years, and China has been Vietnam’s largest trading partner for many years.
China and Vietnam have a profound foundation in the field of economy and trade. Coupled with the multiple dividends of institutional cooperation frameworks, smart logistics infrastructure and AI technology applications, cross-border e-commerce is moving from “quantitative expansion” to “qualitative leap” and has become the most dynamic economic and trade growth pole in the construction of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
With the continuous development of cross-border e-commerce, trade exchanges between China and Vietnam will become closer, which will also bring more development opportunities to enterprises in both countries and promote the common prosperity of both economies.
