Chinese cross-border e-commerce going global: Breakthrough strategies and new opportunities

In the first three quarters of 2025, my country’s cross-border e-commerce import and export figures were impressive, yet enterprises face numerous challenges in their global expansion. Amazon’s EASYGO global expansion solution offers a new approach, helping Chinese brands go global.

In the first three quarters of 2025, my country’s cross-border e-commerce import and export volume surged to 2.06 trillion yuan. Exports reached 1.63 trillion yuan, while imports totaled 425.54 billion yuan. Provinces like Guangdong and Zhejiang have spearheaded the development of cross-border e-commerce. Products like Xiamen Baleaf sportswear and Guangzhou GameSir game controllers have long been part of the lives of consumers worldwide. Seeing such a booming market, many companies want a piece of the pie. However, once they embark on their overseas journey, they find it far more complex than imagined. Going global presents three major challenges, which are also the unspoken difficulties faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). One digital accessories business owner jumped on the cross-border e-commerce bandwagon last year, investing heavily in new product development and inventory preparation. As a result, after the goods arrived at the overseas warehouse, market feedback was poor, leading to a large backlog of inventory and tying up all the capital. This is not an isolated case; cost and risk are the first hurdle many companies face. Testing new products requires stockpiling, and the cross-border logistics chain is long, with high warehousing and transportation costs. If market judgment is wrong, the capital is lost. Logistics and operations are even more troublesome. Opening a store and listing products is just the beginning; companies also need to coordinate with suppliers, constantly monitor shipping progress, and fear lost packages overseas. Tax compliance rules differ in different countries, and after-sales issues are numerous. Small teams with insufficient manpower are overwhelmed just handling these trivial matters, making it impossible to achieve scalable development. The most frustrating thing is the growth bottleneck. Initially, companies can get a few orders by offering low prices or burning money on advertising. But gradually, traffic becomes increasingly expensive, and profit margins become thinner. They want to build a brand but don’t know where to start, ultimately resorting to price wars. These problems are not due to a lack of effort from companies, but rather because cross-border expansion is inherently a complex undertaking. In the traditional model, expanding into new markets requires independent inventory preparation, resulting in significant financial pressure and high risks. Without a systematic solution, relying solely on trial and error can easily lead to pitfalls. Fortunately, a new solution has emerged. Amazon Global Selling’s EASYGO global expansion solution breaks down the complex overseas expansion process into three steps, saving many businesses from unnecessary detours. The first step is efficient startup, allowing businesses to expand into new markets without many concerns. After achieving success in the US market, the Fujian-based sportswear brand KUAILU wanted to expand into the Canadian market. Traditionally, this would require independent inventory preparation in Canadian FBA warehouses, incurring substantial upfront costs and raising concerns about unsold inventory. KUAILU adopted Amazon’s North American remote fulfillment program, eliminating the need for advance inventory preparation in Canada and allowing them to meet Canadian market demand directly using inventory from their US warehouses. This not only reduced financial pressure but also allowed for low-cost market testing. In 2024, KUAILU’s sales on the Canadian site exceeded $2 million, a 12-fold increase year-on-year, with savings of over 560,000 yuan in R&D and product testing costs alone. The second step is worry-free logistics, entrusting fulfillment concerns to professionals. Bestech previously suffered significant losses in logistics: slow customs clearance, unstable sea freight delivery times, chaotic inventory management, and the need to manage logistics teams in seven countries, resulting in particularly high hidden costs. Later, they entrusted all standard products to Amazon Logistics, optimizing routes through the AGL multimodal transport system, allocating goods through the AWD intelligent inventory system, and relying entirely on FBA for last-mile delivery. Now, 96% of orders achieve next-day delivery, sales have increased several times over, and the team can focus on product and brand development, directly doubling efficiency. The third step is rapid growth, moving beyond price wars to build a brand. LOFREE’s mechanical keyboards are positioned in the mid-to-high-end market, initially unknown overseas, with consumers unwilling to pay for design. Instead of opting for a low-price strategy, they leveraged Amazon’s branding tools to establish a flagship store to convey their brand philosophy, using A+ pages and videos to showcase craftsmanship details, and then precisely targeting competitors’ users through display ads. The results were outstanding. Roumei mechanical keyboards achieved over $260,000 in sales in their first month on Amazon’s US platform and also performed well on Amazon’s Japanese platform, successfully establishing a foothold in the mid-to-high-end market. GameSir further refined this approach, using Amazon’s product selection tools to analyze market trends and building a user co-creation community to develop technology based on player pain points. The G7SE gamepad topped the bestseller list on Amazon’s Brazilian platform within an hour of its launch, and in 2024, sales in emerging markets exceeded 10 million yuan, with a return rate lower than the industry average. Currently, cross-border e-commerce policies are becoming increasingly favorable. Customs has optimized supervision, and “dual-front” cargo terminals make customs clearance smoother. Yiwu’s “seamless checkpoint” can release freight vehicles in just 10 seconds. Compliance is also a major trend; Amazon has launched a tax information reporting system, and the industry is undergoing a reshuffle, with compliant companies gaining more resources. In reality, going global isn’t as complicated as it seems; the key is finding the right approach. The core of Amazon EasyGo is modularizing and integrating high-frequency, complex processes, allowing businesses to focus their energy on product innovation and brand building. A market size of 2.06 trillion yuan, along with the global e-commerce pie of 7.5 trillion yuan, demonstrates that going global is a track brimming with opportunities. By leveraging platform tools and policy support, and balancing costs and risks, both large and small enterprises can find their place in the global market. In the future, more and more Chinese brands will move from “going global” to “going in,” shining brightly on the global stage. We hope more companies will seize this opportunity and embark on their global expansion journey.
