Smart homes are gradually getting rid of the label of “future technology” and becoming part of the daily life of more and more Brazilian families.
According to a survey recently released by Brazilian home security company Verisure, more Brazilian consumers are beginning to pay attention to smart devices that can improve the convenience and automation of home life, and the increase in home security awareness is one of the key factors driving this trend.
The results show that in the past 12 months, Brazilian users’ related searches have increased by 22%.
In addition to the significant increase in consumer interest, the entire industry is also in a stage of rapid expansion.
According to forecasts from market research firm Fortune Business Insights, Brazil’s smart home market revenue is expected to reach US$2.41 billion by the end of this year, an increase of 91% from 2022.
Verisure’s survey data also shows that smart homes are no longer limited to meeting a single need, but are gradually covering multiple scenarios in Brazilian people’s lives.
This means that consumers purchase related products not only to improve convenience, but also to create a more efficient and safer living environment.
Rodrigo Monteiro, the company’s marketing director, said: “Smart security and smart homes are changing the relationship between people and their homes. Its significance is not only to respond to emergencies, but also to allow residents to travel more safely, go out for long periods of time, and even take care of their families remotely.”
The survey also mentioned that the five categories of smart home products with the highest search volume among Brazilian consumers in the past year are: smart switches, smart sockets, smart lamps, smart trash cans and smart door locks.
Among them, the annual search volume for smart switches is far ahead, with nearly 1.5 million times.
Industry analysts believe that an important reason for its popularity is its low threshold for use.
Users can use this to control a variety of electrical devices through mobile applications or voice assistants, so it is regarded by many consumers as the first step into the smart home field.
At the same time, smart sockets and smart lamps remain highly popular, indicating that remote control of lighting and home appliances is still one of the most important demands of consumers.

The survey also found that consumers’ interest is no longer limited to smart home products in the traditional sense.
During the statistical period, the searches for keywords such as smart refrigerators, smart curtains, and smart toilets each exceeded 30,000 times, indicating that more and more users are beginning to explore the application of smart technology in more home scenarios such as kitchens and bathrooms.
On the other hand, the survey pointed out that home security is becoming one of the core factors driving the development of the smart home market.
In the past year, searches for smart cameras reached 45,000 times, and smart door locks reached 63,000 times.
At the same time, the search volume for the keyword “smart residential security system” increased by 50% year-on-year.
This result shows that the reason why consumers buy smart devices is not only to pursue convenience, but also to use technological means to improve their sense of security.
