On November 1, 2025, BASF’s Zhanjiang integrated base ushered in a milestone moment.
The first foreign trade ship “Far East Deming” loaded with butyl acrylate successfully completed the loading operation and slowly left the liquid bulk terminal of BASF’s Zhanjiang integrated base.
This event marks the official opening of the Zhanjiang integrated base with a total investment of over 10 billion euros to the international shipping channel, opening a new chapter in exporting products to the world.

BASF’s Zhanjiang Integrated Base is the third largest integrated production base of the German BASF Group in the world, and it is also the first wholly foreign-owned project in China’s heavy chemical industry.
As early as August 2025, the base’s terminal facilities have welcomed the first foreign trade ship to arrive at the port, and have completed the “input” testing of equipment and raw materials during the construction phase.
The launch of the first export foreign trade ship means that the base has realized the international shipping function of “finished product export”.
Since then, the international shipping channel between Zhanjiang Port and BASF base has realized a full-link two-way connection from “input” to “output”, becoming a fully functional international chemical logistics hub.
The butyl acrylate carried by the “Far East Deming” on this maiden voyage is one of the first batch of foreign trade order products produced by the base.
Its smooth export visually demonstrates that the Zhanjiang base has the production capacity and logistics support capabilities to stably supply the international market.
As an industry leader, BASF’s huge import and export volume will significantly increase the cargo throughput and route density of Zhanjiang Port.
This will not only attract more upstream and downstream supporting companies to pay attention and settle in western Guangdong, but will also optimize the regional industrial structure and foreign trade structure.

Zhanjiang is located at the intersection of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Hainan Free Trade Port, and has the natural advantage of a deep-water port.
The opening of the international shipping channel of BASF’s Zhanjiang base not only strengthens Zhanjiang’s position as the leading chemical industry in western Guangdong, but also injects new momentum into the high-quality development of Guangdong’s foreign trade.
As more products enter the international market, Zhanjiang is expected to become a supply hub for high-end new chemical materials radiating around the world.
In the long run, the development of BASF’s Zhanjiang base will drive economic growth in the entire western Guangdong region.
It will attract more investment and talents and promote the upgrading and innovation of the local chemical industry.
At the same time, it will also strengthen Zhanjiang’s connection with the international market and enhance Zhanjiang’s influence in the global chemical field.
For Guangdong, this is also an important measure to promote the high-quality development of foreign trade and will help enhance Guangdong’s position in the international industrial chain.
In the future, we have reason to believe that BASF’s Zhanjiang base will continue to leverage its advantages, continue to expand the international market, and make greater contributions to the global expansion of Chinese chemical products.
Zhanjiang will also take advantage of this opportunity to achieve rapid economic development and industrial transformation and upgrading.
