The spring of manufacturing is here, and global foreign trade is returning, especially orders for parts processing and machinery and equipment!
If you still think that manufacturing is a “hard-working and sunset” industry, then you may have really missed the first wave of wealth in 2026.
At the beginning of this year, in factory workshops across the country, those high-speed robotic arms, flashing welds, and mountains of finished products waiting for export are all silently telling an industry fact – the real spring of manufacturing has quietly arrived!

1. Data explosion: How powerful is our manufacturing industry?
This is not only busy for the senses, the customs data for 2026 can be said to be completely “dumbfounded”.
In the first two months of 2026, China’s exports reached US$656.58 billion, a year-on-year increase of 21.8%, setting a record for the same period in history. This significant growth far exceeded all expectations.
After entering the first quarter, the good momentum continued unabated – my country’s total import and export value of goods trade exceeded the 11 trillion yuan mark for the first time in the first quarter, reaching 11.84 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15%, setting the highest quarterly growth rate in the past five years.
In particular, mechanical and electrical products and mechanical equipment have become the absolute protagonists in this wave of export frenzy!
In terms of mechanical and electrical products, exports in the first two months hit a record high for the same period in previous years, reaching 2.89 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 24.3%, which was 5.1 percentage points higher than the growth rate of all commodity exports.
Among them, the export of automatic data processing equipment and its parts was 256.47 billion yuan, an increase of 18%; the export of integrated circuits increased explosively by 68.9%.
Mechanical equipment also performed well. Construction machinery exports increased by 33.4%, loader exports increased by 34.4% year-on-year, and excavator exports increased by over 36%. Overseas markets have become the main engine of construction machinery growth.
The export value of equipment manufacturing products increased by 19.2% year-on-year, accounting for more than 60% of the total export value.
What is even more exciting is that the field of parts processing is experiencing an unprecedented “golden age”.
Data show that in the first quarter of this year alone, the export of core parts and components increased by as high as 39.1% year-on-year.
2. Why are foreign trade orders “quietly” returning?
A few years ago, we often heard the voice of “China’s manufacturing orders are flowing out to Southeast Asia.”
But things have changed, and now, many orders that once left the country are returning to China at an accelerated pace!
The reason is mainly based on three core logics:
First, the “Dinghaishenzhenpin” effect of the supply chain.
When the global manufacturing PMI has been in the expansion range for seven consecutive months, and even hit a new high in the past 44 months, the world has discovered that no country can provide such complete, efficient and highly resilient supporting services for the entire industry chain like China.
Second, the “infrastructure explosion” in emerging markets.
Emerging market countries such as ASEAN, the Middle East and Africa are in a golden period of accelerated industrialization and large-scale infrastructure construction.
In order to meet these huge engineering demands, they have shown a “hungry” import demand for China’s heavy engineering machinery and precision spare parts.
Third, technological confidence has given rise to “customization abroad.”
Today’s Chinese manufacturing industry has bid farewell to the simple “low price and volume” in the past.
Represented by Shandong, exports of mechanical and electrical products surged by 11.9% in the first two months. Enterprises relied on “customization” strategies to achieve breakthroughs. Orders from foreign customers were fully booked, and foreign customers even traveled thousands of miles to visit on site every week.
3. Direct access to the scene: factory orders are fully booked, and workshops work day and night
No matter how brilliant the data is, it cannot be as real as the fiery workshop scenes:
When walking into various manufacturing companies in Guangdong, huge robotic arms are running at high speed, carrying parts and components, and they have almost never stopped since the beginning of the year.
In Zhejiang Wencheng Development Zone, many companies are currently maintaining full production capacity, and orders have been scheduled for delivery in four months. The annual output value is expected to increase by more than 20% compared with last year.
Overseas orders for Ningbo hardware and electromechanical companies have been scheduled until the end of April, with a resumption rate of over 94% and full production capacity.
In Anhui’s “intelligent manufacturing” workshop, the production schedule is fully scheduled, and overseas orders have been scheduled until June.

If you still think this is just a flash in the pan for low-end manufacturing, you are totally wrong!
In the field of high-end manufacturing, the competitiveness of Chinese companies is even more amazing.
In the field of transformer exports, the city’s transformer exports in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province exceeded 650 million yuan in the first two months of 2026, a year-on-year increase of more than 70%, and the entire industrial chain is accelerating.
Auto parts are booming around the world, and the assembly lines in the workshop are handling new energy car casings, smart cockpits and aluminum alloy wheels shipped to the world 24 hours a day.
4. Why is it said that the “spring” of manufacturing has just begun?
There are various signs that this wave of external demand dividends is not a short-term impulse, but has long-term sustainability.
From the perspective of the external environment, under the Federal Reserve’s interest rate cut cycle, overseas demand will enter a new upward cycle in 2026, and subdivisions such as construction machinery and general equipment are expected to continue the export boom.
Europe and the United States have begun a new round of fiscal expansion dividends, and there is a clear trend of marginal increase in global demand.
From the perspective of internal motivation, China’s manufacturing industry is completing an upgrade from “scale advantages” to “quality, efficiency, and service advantages.”
Three new green things – 3D printer exports increased by 119%, electric vehicle exports increased by 77.5%, and lithium battery exports increased by 50.4%, which have become the core engine of export growth.
Looking around the world, the trend of manufacturing reshoring has not slowed down, but has driven a large number of medium-sized factories to add new production lines, thus driving equipment investment and spare parts demand to continue to rise.
Wang Jun, deputy director of the General Administration of Customs, said at the press conference that the growth in exports is a comprehensive reflection of multiple factors such as “reviving external demand, a complete domestic industrial supporting system, and the release of innovation momentum by corporate entities.”
5. What should practitioners and business owners do next?
The wind is blowing. As a business owner, individual factory and parts supplier, how should we seize this wave of opportunities?
1. We must dare to expand production capacity, but we must not blindly expand our business.
Faced with orders that are scheduled for several months, it is imperative to make appropriate machine replacements and automation upgrades. We must make good use of this wave of market conditions to improve our production limits and product yields.
2. Abandon the old thinking of “shoddy manufacturing” and embrace “small but beautiful” customization.
Today’s overseas customers are no longer just looking for cheap prices, they value refined processing capabilities and the stability of on-time delivery.
Especially in the field of parts processing, high precision and customization have become the core competitiveness to win the trust of customers.
3. Keep an eye on the “One Belt, One Road” initiative and emerging markets.
Amid fluctuations in demand in some European and American markets, the popularity of infrastructure construction in regions such as Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia has only increased.
Qualified companies should take the initiative to go abroad and directly contact overseas first-level buyers by participating in international machinery exhibitions or using cross-border e-commerce platforms, skipping the intermediate links, and the profit margins will be very different!
In short, the spring of 2026 has arrived, and Chinese manufacturing is rushing into the core of the global industrial chain with an unstoppable attitude.
Countless cold machines and steel are bursting with hot wealth and vitality this year.
Whether you are a practitioner in the manufacturing industry or a related upstream and downstream supplier, there is not much time left for you to hesitate. Don’t miss this fast-moving “foreign trade train”!
