Today’s cross-border e-commerce is shifting from 2.0, which emphasizes brand building, to a new development era of 3.0 in the global market.
As an important fulcrum of the “Belt and Road Initiative” and an innovation base for the BRICS New Industrial Revolution Partnership, Xiamen’s cross-border e-commerce has ushered in a broad horizon.

Yesterday morning, the three-day Sixth China (Xiamen) International Cross-border E-commerce Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as the “Cross-Border Exhibition”) kicked off at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center.
At the over 50,000-square-meter exhibition, more than 30 high-quality industrial zones across the country and more than 30 leading cross-border e-commerce platforms around the world gathered together to explore the global cross-border market.
Looking at the development history of domestic cross-border e-commerce, the industry has completed iterative upgrades: from the early 1.0 era of low-price distribution and extensive “going overseas” to the 2.0 era of deep brand cultivation and multi-site influence, and now it has officially entered the 3.0 era of global market layout and refined operations.
“Fujian is one of the provinces with the earliest start of the domestic cross-border e-commerce industry, the most complete business formats, and the most active ecology.” The relevant person in charge said in his speech at the exhibition that Fujian relies on its profound business heritage and solid physical industry foundation
, promote the in-depth binding and integrated development of a number of characteristic industrial belts such as Quanzhou shoes and clothing, Xiamen sanitary ware, Ningde electrical machinery, and Nanping bamboo products with cross-border e-commerce, allowing “Made in Fujian” and “Fujian Brand” to continue to deeply explore the global market with the help of cross-border e-commerce channels.
As the core engine for the development of cross-border e-commerce in Fujian, Xiamen relies on the overlay of multiple policy dividends such as the Free Trade Pilot Zone, the BRICS Innovation Base, and the Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone, and continues to make up for the shortcomings in full-chain services such as port customs clearance, warehousing logistics, financial services, and compliance operations, creating the country’s leading cross-border e-commerce business ecosystem, and becoming a benchmark city for the high-quality development of cross-border e-commerce nationwide.
Data show that Xiamen’s cross-border e-commerce exports have grown at an average annual rate of over 45% in the past five years. In 2022, cross-border e-commerce exports exceeded 20 billion yuan, accounting for 46.8% of the province’s total; during the same period, live broadcast online retail sales reached 48 billion yuan, accounting for 46.4% of the province’s total.
At the same time, the effect of industrial agglomeration continues to amplify. Currently, Xiamen has gathered 12,000 cross-border e-commerce sellers, cultivated leading enterprises in subdivisions such as Weifa Co., Ltd., attracted official service teams of mainstream platforms such as Amazon Global Store, JD.com, AliExpress, and Alibaba International Station, gathered professional cross-border service companies such as Hugo Cross-border, and built national e-commerce demonstration bases such as Xiamen Cross-border E-commerce Industrial Park and Zhongda E-commerce Park. The industrial ecology is increasingly improving.

On the consumer side, global consumers’ requirements for logistics and distribution speed, product cost-effectiveness, and product richness continue to increase; on the business side, the difficulty of global corporate layout and cross-regional operation management continues to increase, and the industry has officially entered a critical stage of quality improvement and upgrading.
This year’s China Cross Exhibition accurately meets the development needs of the industry, focusing on the accurate connection between source factories and cross-border platforms. More than 70% of the booths are cross-border source factories, focusing on displaying cross-border quality products in all categories such as shoes, clothing and luggage, building materials and sanitary ware, 3C electronics, household daily necessities, beauty and personal care, pet supplies, etc., fully unleashing the supply chain advantages of Fujian and the national industrial belt.
The exhibition brings together more than 30 of the world’s leading cross-border e-commerce platforms, with their businesses covering global mainstream and emerging markets such as North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Japan and South Korea. It covers not only traditional mainstream platforms such as Amazon, eBay, and Made in China, but also new overseas platforms such as Temu, TikTok Shop, and Taobao Overseas.
Among them, global fast fashion giant SHEIN made its official appearance at a domestic cross-border professional exhibition for the first time, becoming the biggest highlight of this exhibition.
At the scene, the SHEIN official team systematically dismantled the “self-operated + platform” dual-engine development model, and explained in detail the “small order and quick response” flexible supply chain system, spot purchasing, customized OEM and other diversified cooperation paths. The business radiates to many popular markets around the world, focusing on empowering Fujian’s textile and apparel advantageous industries, helping local traditional footwear and apparel companies adapt to global fast fashion needs, achieve flexibility and digital transformation, and expand overseas channels.
In addition, yesterday morning, at the 6th China-Span Exhibition, the Chinese Language College/Preparatory Education College of Huaqiao University signed a cooperation agreement on “Language Services for Enterprises Going Overseas” with the Xiamen Chamber of International Commerce, Xiamen Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, Xiamen Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs, and Asia Influence Group.
